Haryana Forest Department has declared a new 250-hectare wetland in Yamunanagar as a Ramsar-protected biodiversity zone. The wetland is home to 172 species of birds, including migratory ducks and bar-headed geese. Solar-powered watchtowers, floating boardwalks, and an eco-education center are under construction. The state is promoting it as an ecotourism destination, with community guides and boat-based birdwatching. The project also supports livelihood training for nearby villages in eco-farming, handicrafts, and hospitality.
